Barista Innkeeper's Coffee - Peoria, IL Innkeeper's Coffee is looking for a dedicated team member to be added to our exceptional customer service experience. Innkeeper's Coffee prides itself on offering high quality, crafted beverages alongside a full breakfast and lunch menu. The opening available is part time or full time with flexible hours. Saturday availability is required. This business is open 6 days a week with hours between 6:00a.m and 4:00p.m.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to craft exceptional coffee beverages, prepare lunch orders, provide outstanding customer service, and contribute to a positive guest experience. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and dedicated to delivering a consistent, high-quality product with a friendly attitude. This role reports directly to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Beverage and Lunch Preparation & Quality:
Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages consistently, adhering to established recipes and quality standards. Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment with precision. Monitor and manage coffee bean freshness, grind settings, and milk steaming techniques. Prepare lunch items for service and complete lunch orders with items made to order
Customer Service & Sales:
Greet customers warmly, take accurate orders, and process payments efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Educate customers on menu items, coffee bean origins, and brewing methods, offering recommendations as appropriate. Resolve customer complaints and concerns with patience and professionalism, ensuring a positive resolution. Promote and upsell menu items and merchandise.
Cleanliness & Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar and kitchen area, including regular cleaning of equipment, counters, and customer seating areas. Perform daily opening and closing duties, such as stocking supplies, cleaning machines, and preparing for the next shift. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
Inventory & Teamwork:
Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies; communicate needs to management. Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries as needed. Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask effectively. Proficiency in operating a POS system and handling cash transactions accurately. Basic math skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Valid Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain one upon hire).
Preferred:
Experience as a barista in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant setting. Advanced latte art skills. Knowledge of various coffee brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, cold brew). Experience with inventory management and ordering.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours). Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently use hands.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $15 - $20 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus shared tips at an expected hourly rate of $5 - $15.
