Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a energetic, outgoing and dedicated Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while preparing and serving high-quality coffee and food items. Your ability to provide exceptional customer service and maintain a clean, organized workspace will contribute to the overall success of our business. Applicants will also be required to do light food prep for our customers (breakfast sandwiches, pizzas..etc). Responsibilities Prepare and serve coffee beverages, teas, and food items according to established recipes and standards. Operate cash registers, handle cash transactions, and ensure accurate processing of customer orders. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including workstations, dining areas, and equipment. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, taking orders efficiently, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Assist with food preparation as needed, ensuring adherence to food safety and handling guidelines. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality. Collaborate with team members to create a positive work environment and support each other in daily tasks. Qualifications Previous experience in food service or customer service is preferred but not required. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during peak hours. Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques is a plus but can be learned on the job. Ability to handle food safely and adhere to health regulations. Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanor towards customers and team members. A passion for coffee and a desire to help create memorable experiences for customers. We are a fun, quirky coffee shop and would like employees that can fit that vibe when you are here. We do not just provide excellent food, drinks and customer service, we also provide smiles, laughter and community. High school students need not apply as we need people for weekdays in the morning. Weekends are a must as that is our busiest time and provides the best tips for our staff so we always try to get someone on at least one weekend shift. Working at the Nook is fun, but our standards for cleanliness, food & drink preperation is very high so please expect to work.
