The Role The Lead Barista is the top barista-level position at Mugby. This role is all about quality, customer experience, and training others — no traditional people-management duties required. Lead Baristas set the bar for every barista on the team in skill, speed, flow, and hospitality. What You'll Do Own product quality — dial in espresso, steam milk, and catch mistakes before drinks hit the counter Lead the guest experience — model fast, friendly, accurate service and step in when a situation needs a steady hand Coach and mentor — actively train new and junior Baristas, give constructive feedback, and help prep them for their next skills test Run a tight shift — own setup, close, and flow, and flag issues to management right away Push for better — suggest and test new techniques, recipes, and workflows What We're Looking For 2-3 years of experience as a barista or similar customer service hospitality role Demonstrated mastery in hosptality — you've already proven you can hold the line on quality and service Leads by example, notices the small stuff, communicates clearly, and stays consistent no matter how busy it gets Comfortable working weekends, holidays (we're open everyday but Christmas and Thanksgiving), and early mornings — and yes, taking orders outside in the elements during rush Why Mugby Tips on top of your hourly wage.
