Job Description
We are Thornton Family Coffee Roasters
•a very experienced family wholesale coffee roasting business, and the largest coffee roasting company in Beaverton. Our only retail presence is our walk-up window that is attached to our roastery in Beaverton where we sell beans, serve coffee, espresso drinks, and a small selection of pastries.
After 8 years we have finally exhausted our pool of family members to hire and we are looking to the public to fill this important role and join our team!
We are hiring for about 28 hours a week in a barista role at our window. Since we have no kitchen, and no customer seating, it's all about the coffee and the service. No food prep. No tables to wipe down. No uniforms. Super small team. Lots of jokes. Great regular customers. Family owned, family operated.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday :
9am
•4:30pm (closer)Please note...Barista experience would be swell, this position needs to be filled fast and trained up quickly.
Our bar area is in the same building as our roasting facility, and is not exactly temperature controlled. If it's hot outside, it's hot inside. If it's cold outside, it's cold inside.
You must be comfortable with working solo at times, including closing shop.
Consistent schedule
•once you're scheduled shifts, it's pretty much yours so you can count on when you're working week to week. Duties would include...Coffee
•brewing drip, making espresso drinks, pour overs, cold brew, tasting, sampling, describing coffees to customers. If it's coffee related, chances are it'll come up.
Cleaning
•keeping a tidy bar area, wiping counters, hand washing dishes, sweeping the floor, sometimes cleaning the walls, dusting, washing the window, cleaning the bathroom (it can't all be glamourous).Closing
•restocking the bean shelf, cups, lids, milks, napkins, stir sticks, etc.
Cash
•cash handling, accepting card payments, Square POS register operation.
Customers
•we expect a super high level of customer service, and pride ourselves on our 4.8-star Google rating. Help us get to 4.9-stars!
You'll also get to observe roasting, learn more about coffee, enjoy annual employee events, probably get invited to a family BBQ (you don't have to come to that if you don't want to..), and work for one of the most experienced little coffee roasters in the PNW.You'll be working amongst 6 siblings, their dad, their aunt... and Sam. We keep things casual, but we are professional, and have fun.
