Position Overview:

Fleur de Lis Artisan Bakery and Cafe in close-in NE Portland has been popular for breakfast and lunch for 20 years. We are a favorite in the heart of Hollywood and are open 7:30am to 2:30pm (closed Mondays). We are looking for a friendly multi-tasking counter server/barista who is very comfortable being responsible for a great customer experience at our beloved cafe .What we are looking for -We are looking for candidates that really enjoy interacting with people and who thrive in an environment where team members work together to create a great experience for our customers and each other. We believe we succeed together and that to be successful, each crew member must be comfortable jumping in and helping wherever needed, including running food, bussing tables, and washing dishes. As part of the front-of house crew you will -Greet customers ordering at the counter as you take their orderPlate or bag and serve fresh baked pastries and breadPrepare espresso and other beveragesSupport the kitchen staff by running food and clearing tablesWork quickly and efficiently to maintain cleanliness, supply levels and organization of the FOH including counter area, coffee bar and customer seating areasWash and restock dishes following sanitation guidelines as need (all caf positions share this responsibility as we are a small team here to efficiently support one another during peak times)Maintain an efficient pace in slow periods, checking in and helping coworkers, addressing support tasks and addressing areas that are not the focus in peak timesFollow safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with food safety regulations.

Assist in training and mentoring other caf staff as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

18 years of age or olderAbility to read, write, and speak English requiredBasic math skills requiredMaintains food handler card new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of workExperience with point-of-sale systems preferred1+ year(s) experience as a barista/counter service preferred Thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle pressureExcellent communication and team collaboration skillsMaintain high standards of cleanliness and food safetyPositive attitude and willingness to contribute to a great team environmentMust display professionalism and personality with customers and co-workersPhysical requirements include but are not limited to:

Standing for 100% of the shift.

Working in a loud environment with frequent interruptions. Lifting and carrying items up to 20 lbs.

Working in a building containing a bakery and is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat).
