Dogwood is hiring!

We are looking for wine and service professionals to work a few shifts in our family-owned wine shop, wine bar, and flower shop.

•This is a Part Time position (10-16hrs/wk). Local Portland OR applicants only.

•This is a unique and varied job, where you ll be doing everything from selling wine bottles and pouring glasses, to preparing food and cocktails, to wrapping flowers and fulfilling wine clubs. Our service can range from quite chill to extremely busy, so we are looking for someone with a background in service to fulfill this role. Unfortunately, we cannot take on anyone who is looking to break into the wine industry at this time.

Candidate requirements:2+ years of restaurant server / bartender experienceYou're expected to run all aspects of wine bar service: taking orders, pouring glasses, preparing food, making cocktails, doing dishes, and maintaining a clean and orderly space. For this reason, we are looking for people with a minimum of 2 years restaurant or bar experience.

Intermediate wine knowledge Candidates should be knowledgeable and passionate about wine, we want you to have a thorough grasp of grape variety, regions, styles and be able to talk about the wines in such a way. Our retail space is formatted like a visual restaurant wine list, so our customers frequently request help in deciding on which bottles to buy. We do not require any certifications (CMS/WSET/etc) but they are a bonus.

Interest in flowers and floristryFloristry is a very important part of our business. While we don t expect candidates to have work experience in floristry, we do expect you to show interest and passion about flowers, as well as a willingness to learn how to combine bunches for arrangements, manage cut flower care and health, and knowledgeably discuss flowers with customers.21 years of age w/ OLCC service license

Availability:

We are looking for weekend and weeknight evening availability.

Currently have openings on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Weekend shifts are often 12:45pm to 8 or 9pm, with some slight variance outside of that. Weekday shifts are 4:30 - 8 or 9pm.

Details:

Compensation is minimum wage ($16.80) plus tips. We run a tip-inclusive pricing system, so tip calculations are made each shift based on the amount of on-premises business we do. Plenty of learning opportunities. These include monthly wine club tastings, revolving by the glass pours, and firsthand experience of how a small shop is operated.

Employee discount on wine and flowers, plus monthly wine club membership (2 bottles) for each employee.
