Job Description

Barista LeadJapanese Izakaya-Inspired Restaurant | Full-TimeWe're looking for a passionate, experienced Barista Lead to help launch and lead our coffee and beverage program from the ground up at our Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurant.

This is an opportunity for someone who loves coffee, hospitality, and building something from scratch. You'll have a hands-on role in developing the coffee program, establishing standards and recipes, training the team, and creating a beverage experience that complements our food and overall concept.

While the primary focus will be coffee and non-alcoholic beverages, this role will also cross-train and occasionally work as a bartender, supporting our bar program during service as needed.

What You'll DoBuild and develop our barista program from the ground up, including recipes, preparation standards, workflows, and service proceduresHelp select and dial in coffee, equipment, grinders, and other beverage toolsDevelop a thoughtful coffee and non-alcoholic beverage menu inspired by Japanese flavors and hospitalityEstablish standards for espresso, brewed coffee, teas, specialty drinks, syrups, and other beverage componentsLead the coffee station during service and maintain an organized, clean, efficient workspaceManage coffee and beverage inventory, ordering, prep, and waste controlWork closely with the culinary and management teams to create beverages that complement the restaurant's menuHelp establish opening and closing procedures and beverage station systemsProvide warm, knowledgeable, and attentive guest serviceCross-train with the bar team and occasionally bartend during service when neededSupport the development and execution of the cocktail and beverage program as appropriateMaintain a strong knowledge of Japanese-inspired ingredients, flavors, and beverage traditionsWhat We're Looking For2+ years of professional barista experience, with lead or supervisory experience preferredStrong knowledge of espresso, coffee preparation, extraction, and beverage qualityA genuine interest in Japanese food, culture, ingredients, and hospitalityExperience developing recipes, systems, or beverage programs is highly valuedBartending experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right candidateStrong communication and leadership skillsDetail-oriented with a high standard for cleanliness and consistencyComfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environmentCreative, curious, and excited by the opportunity to build something newHospitality-minded and committed to creating a memorable guest experienceMust be comfortable working mornings, weekends, and holidays as neededThe Ideal CandidateYou're more than someone who can make a great latte. You're someone who sees the entire beverage experience from sourcing ingredients and developing recipes to training a team and creating a welcoming interaction with every guest.

You're excited by the idea of taking a blank slate and turning it into a polished, efficient, and distinctive beverage program. You can lead from the barista station, collaborate with the kitchen and bar teams, and step behind the cocktail bar when needed.
