Job Description

Afternoon Barista Position Summary We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Afternoon Barista to join our team. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the cash register, preparing beverages and food items, maintaining inventory and stock levels, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the café. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. We hire a number of college students each fall and are interested in adding someone to our team who is not seasonal, but a permanent fixture! This means that every few months/as semesters shift, there is an opportunity for our "regular" schedule to shift based on student availability and schedules. Please note that the listed starting wage is before tips! Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Cashier Duties Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner. Take customer orders accurately and process payments using the point-of-sale (Square POS) system. Answer customer questions regarding menu items and make recommendations when appropriate. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and positive customer experience. Beverage & Food Preparation Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, smoothies, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards. Prepare and serve food items while following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ensure consistency, presentation, and quality of all products served. Inventory & Stock Management Restock ingredients, supplies, and merchandise throughout the shift. Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items to management. Assist with receiving, organizing, and rotating inventory deliveries. Help maintain accurate inventory counts and participate in inventory audits as needed. Operations & Store Maintenance Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, dining areas, equipment, and storage areas. Follow opening, shift, and closing procedures as assigned. Assist with daily operational tasks to ensure efficient café performance. Adhere to all health, safety, and company policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with team members to support a positive and productive work environment. Qualifications Previous barista, café, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and cash-handling skills. Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds. Schedule Early morning (beginning 6 AM) and afternoon availability (until 4 PM) required. Part-time (5-15 hours per week) or full-time hours (15-20+ hours) available based on business needs. Weekends HEAVILY encouraged -- For tips' sake for you and for high demand days for us. Pay:
$10.00 - $12.00 per hour
