This is a part-time position with hours that fluctuate throughout the year based on business needs and seasonality. We're looking for team members who are available nights, weekends, and holidays , with Saturday and Sunday availability required . Flexibility is essential, including the ability to pick up additional weekday shifts as needed. This Is More Than a Bartending Job Our guests come to Upstairs Circus to create first and drink second. Every Creative Assistant is cross-trained in all areas of the business—from bartending and guest check-in to assisting with DIY projects on the workshop floor. At the beginning of each shift, you'll be assigned to either the bar or the project pick-up station , but everyone is expected to jump in wherever they're needed. When the bar slows down, you'll transition to the workshop floor to check in with guests, answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and help ensure everyone leaves with a project they're proud of. If you're looking to spend your entire shift behind the bar, this probably isn't the right fit. Our Creative Assistants are a huge part of what makes that experience unforgettable. What You'll Do Deliver exceptional customer service from the moment guests arrive until they leave. Welcome guests, check them into Project Socials, and get them started. Explain projects, distribute project kits, and demonstrate tools and techniques. Circulate throughout the workshop, assisting guests with their DIY projects. Troubleshoot projects and offer creative tips to help every guest succeed. Bartend and provide responsible alcohol service, including beer, wine, and cocktails. Move seamlessly between the bar and the workshop floor based on business needs. Create a fun, energetic, and welcoming atmosphere for workshops, events, and private parties. Assist with opening and closing duties. Prep project kits, organize tools, maintain inventory, and keep the shop clean and organized. Jump in wherever needed to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience. Qualifications Must be 21 years of age or older . Previous service industry experience preferred (bartending or serving is a plus). Bartending experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate. TIPS Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire). Compensation This is a tipped position with a base pay of $11.40-$14.42 per hour , depending on experience. Our Creative Assistants currently average $25+ per hour when combining hourly wages and tips. Actual earnings vary based on business levels, shift availability, and season.
