We are looking for an experienced and passionate Bartender to join our team and help create the memorable experiences that have made Peterson's a destination for guests celebrating life's most important moments. The ideal candidate understands that bartending in a fine-dining environment is about more than making great drinks. It is about anticipating guest needs, knowing the products you represent, creating genuine connections, and delivering polished service from the first greeting to the final farewell. Position Overview As a Bartender at Peterson's, you will be responsible for providing an elevated bar and dining experience while preparing and serving cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits to the highest standards. You will work closely with guests, servers, hosts, management, and the culinary team to ensure an efficient and seamless experience throughout the restaurant. Our bartenders are expected to be knowledgeable, personable, professional, and able to maintain composure and attention to detail during high-volume service. Responsibilities Prepare and serve classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages according to Peterson's recipes and presentation standards. Provide knowledgeable and personalized recommendations based on guest preferences, including cocktail, wine, and spirit selections. Deliver polished, attentive, and genuine hospitality while building relationships with both new and returning guests. Demonstrate strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine varietals, regions, and proper service techniques. Maintain a thorough understanding of Peterson's beverage menus, wine list, food menu, daily features, and special events. Accurately enter orders and process payments using POS systems, including Aloha and/or Micros. Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and responsibly. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar throughout the shift. Complete opening, closing, side-work, and sanitation duties according to Peterson's standards. Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and responsible beverage service regulations. Communicate effectively with servers, hosts, management, and the culinary team to ensure smooth service. Monitor guest needs and proactively address concerns before they become issues. Maintain proper glassware, garnishes, tools, ice, liquor, wine, beer, and other bar inventory throughout service. Assist with inventory, product rotation, restocking, and proper storage of beverage products. Contribute ideas for new cocktails, seasonal beverages, and enhancements to Peterson's beverage program. Support private dining events, wine dinners, special events, and other Peterson's functions as needed. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with Peterson's fine-dining standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous bartending experience in a fine-dining restaurant, upscale steakhouse, hotel, private club, or comparable hospitality environment strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and current beverage trends. Wine knowledge and/or formal wine education is a plus. Ability to confidently describe menu items and make thoughtful food and beverage pairing recommendations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional during high-volume service. Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency. Previous experience with Aloha, Micros, or comparable restaurant POS systems preferred. Strong cash-handling and basic mathematical skills. Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and applicable Indiana regulations. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during special events as business needs require. Must meet all applicable age and licensing requirements for alcohol service in Indiana.
