Job Description

Are you an experienced server or bartender looking for more than your next seasonal restaurant job? Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters is seeking an experienced Server/Bartender for a long-term, year-round position in our full-service resort restaurant, Northwoods lounge, and banquet facility in northern Minnesota. We're looking for someone with professional restaurant serving experience who enjoys taking care of guests, is comfortable serving beer, wine, and cocktails, and wants the stability of a year-round position in a vacation resort environment. Experience with full-service or fine dining, bartending, wine, catering, banquet service, or resort hospitality is especially valuable. We're looking for someone who wants to stay for more than a season and become a long-term member of our dedicated, close-knit team. The Position This is a full-time, year-round Server/Bartender position , with schedules set for approximately 40 hours per week and two consecutive days off. As a Server/Bartender at Gunflint Lodge, you'll provide friendly, attentive service to resort guests and restaurant customers from around the world. Our food and beverage operation includes full-service dining, our casual Northern Lights Lounge, banquets, weddings, catering, and special events. We're looking for an experienced hospitality professional who genuinely enjoys taking care of people, communicates well, works effectively with the kitchen and other servers, and takes pride in creating a memorable guest experience. Responsibilities Provide friendly, attentive, professional restaurant service Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently Serve food, cocktails, beer, and wine Prepare cocktails and other bar beverages as assigned Develop strong knowledge of menus, nightly specials, cocktails, beer, and wine offerings Operate the POS system and process guest payments Assist with banquet, wedding, catering, and special-event service Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming dining, bar, and service areas Communicate effectively with kitchen and other restaurant staff Follow applicable alcohol-service, food-safety, and sanitation standards Help wherever needed to provide excellent service and keep restaurant operations running smoothly As with most resort operations, there are times when everyone pitches in outside their usual responsibilities. We're looking for someone who is flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable with some variety in their work. Qualifications Previous professional restaurant serving experience required A genuine interest in long-term, year-round employment Strong guest-service and communication skills Ability to stay organized and attentive during busy restaurant service Dependability and ability to work effectively as part of a team Bartending and cocktail experience preferred Wine knowledge or wine-service experience preferred Full-service or fine-dining experience preferred Banquet, catering, wedding, or resort experience is a plus Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed What We Offer $11.41/hour starting wage + tips, with a 4% wage increase in January Opportunity to earn significant tips Approximately 40 hours per week Two consecutive days off Stable, long-term, year-round employment Discounted onsite employee housing for $82-$164 per week, depending on accommodations Some pet-friendly employee housing available 401(k) with company contribution after one year Paid time off Employee discounts Recreational equipment and opportunities available to employees at minimal charge Make the Northwoods Home Gunflint Lodge is a premier Northwoods lake resort located on Gunflint Lake, 43 miles up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, Minnesota.
