The Club provides members and their guests with an elevated yet welcoming experience through member dining, private events, business gatherings, cocktail receptions, wine dinners, holiday celebrations, and special programming. We are seeking an experienced, personable, and service-focused Part-Time Bartender with strong craft cocktail experience to join our hospitality team. Position Summary The ideal candidate combines excellent bartending skills with the polished, personalized hospitality expected in a private membership club. This position requires more than simply preparing drinks. Our bartenders are expected to engage with members, learn their preferences, make knowledgeable recommendations, prepare both classic and contemporary cocktails, maintain a well-organized bar, and contribute to an exceptional member and guest experience. The bartender will provide beverage service for regular Club dining as well as private parties, receptions, wine dinners, member events, corporate functions, and other special occasions. Responsibilities Provide warm, professional, and personalized beverage service to Club members and their guests. Prepare high-quality classic and contemporary craft cocktails consistently and efficiently. Demonstrate proper cocktail-building techniques, including shaking, stirring, muddling, straining, garnishing, and presentation. Accurately prepare drinks according to recipes, Club standards, and member preferences. Develop familiarity with members' preferred beverages and provide personalized service whenever possible. Make informed recommendations regarding cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Demonstrate working knowledge of bourbon, whiskey, vodka, gin, rum, tequila, liqueurs, wine, and beer. Prepare classic cocktails such as Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, Martinis, Negronis, Margaritas, Sidecars, French 75s, Whiskey Sours, and other commonly requested drinks. Assist with the development and execution of seasonal craft cocktail menus. Create attractive, appropriate garnishes and maintain high presentation standards. Prepare syrups, infusions, juices, garnishes, and other cocktail components as needed. Provide bar service for cocktail receptions, private parties, wine dinners, weddings, holiday events, corporate functions, and member events. Set up and break down bars for private and off-site-style event service within the Club. Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing bar throughout service. Monitor liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar supplies and communicate inventory needs to management. Accurately enter beverage orders into the Club's POS system. Follow proper cash handling, member-account charging, and closing procedures. Maintain proper glassware standards and presentation. Assist with wine service, including opening, presenting, pouring, and proper handling of wine. Maintain knowledge of current beverage trends and seasonal cocktail opportunities. Follow responsible alcohol service practices and all applicable North Carolina ABC regulations. Monitor guest alcohol consumption and respond professionally and appropriately when responsible service intervention is necessary. Maintain member confidentiality and exercise professionalism and discretion at all times. Work collaboratively with servers, culinary staff, event staff, and management. Complete opening, closing, cleaning, restocking, and side-work responsibilities. Perform other beverage and hospitality-related duties as assigned. Craft Cocktail Experience Candidates should be comfortable preparing cocktails from memory and understanding the basic structure of classic cocktails. Experience with the following is strongly preferred: Classic cocktail preparation Contemporary craft cocktails Fresh juices and house-made mixers Simple syrups and flavored syrups Cocktail garnishing and presentation Spirit-forward cocktails Bourbon and whiskey cocktails Martini preparation and variations Seasonal cocktails Mocktails and sophisticated non-alcoholic beverages Wine and sparkling wine service Food and beverage pairing recommendations Bartenders should also be comfortable preparing drinks based on a member's preferences, even when the member does not have a specific cocktail in mind.
Qualifications Preferred candidates will have:
Previous bartending experience in a private club, country club, fine-dining restaurant, upscale hotel, craft cocktail bar, catering operation, or event venue. Demonstrated craft cocktail experience. Strong knowledge of classic cocktail recipes and preparation techniques. Working knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and beverage service. Knowledge of wine service and basic food-and-wine pairing preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A polished, professional, and welcoming demeanor. Genuine interest in hospitality and building relationships with members. Ability to remember member names, drink preferences, and special requests. Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a hospitality team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm, efficient, and professional during busy events and service periods. Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move beverage cases, kegs, glassware, and bar supplies. Availability for evening, weekend, holiday, and special-event shifts. Bartending certification, ServSafe Alcohol, TIPS, or other responsible beverage-service training is a plus.
