The Bartender is responsible for providing a welcoming experience for our members and guests while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-run Canteen. Responsibilities include preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, preparing limited food items, operating the Point of Sale system, handling transactions, maintaining the bar area, and following Post procedures. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works well with others, communicates effectively, and can be counted on to arrive on time and work their scheduled shifts. Responsibilities Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Prepare and serve food from the Post's limited menu. Provide friendly, professional service to members and guests. Take orders, answer questions, and make appropriate recommendations. Operate the Point of Sale system and accurately process payments and tabs. Handle cash and credit/debit transactions responsibly. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary Canteen and bar area. Wash glassware and maintain bar equipment and work surfaces. Monitor supplies and notify management of inventory or supply needs. Follow established Post procedures for opening, closing, cash handling, and Canteen operations. Follow applicable health, safety, and responsible alcohol service requirements. Work cooperatively with other Post employees, volunteers, and House Committee leadership. Perform other duties necessary to support Canteen operations. Qualifications Previous bartending or food-service experience preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Dependable, punctual, and responsible. Ability to work independently while also being a team player. Comfortable handling cash, credit/debit transactions, and a Point of Sale system. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Basic knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service. Must be of legal drinking age. Must be bondable.
