Food Market Assistant Friendly Center is looking for a dependable and friendly Federal Work-Study student to assist with our Food Market at our Orange site. The Food Market provides food and basic necessities to individuals and families in our community. The Food Market Assistant will help with the day-to-day operation of the market, including setting up and stocking food, checking in clients, and helping keep the market organized and welcoming. What You'll Gain This position provides students with hands-on experience working in a nonprofitenvironment while developing skills in customer service, communication, organization,teamwork, and community service. Students will have the opportunity to see firsthand howfood assistance programs support individuals and families in their community. Responsibilities Assist with setting up the Food Market before distribution. Help unload, organize, and stock food and other items. Check in clients and provide friendly customer service. Help keep the Food Market clean, organized, and welcoming. Assist staff with general Food Market tasks as needed. Follow Friendly Center procedures for client service, food handling, and safety. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude when working with clients, staff, and volunteers Required Qualifications Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study through their college or university. Reliable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts. Friendly, dependable, and comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift and move boxes or food items as needed. Bilingual skills are not required, but Spanish or another language would be helpful. Schedule Requirements Students must be available to work at least one 4-hour shift per week. Additional hours may be available based on the student's Federal Work-Study award and the needs of the program.
Schedule:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2:00 PM-5:30 PM; Thursdays, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM Desired Qualifications Conversational Spanish a plus. General Education background a plus.
