Kitchen Manager / Shift Lead Job Summary The Food Prep Team Member at Mission BBQ is responsible for preparing fresh ingredients, supporting kitchen operations, and ensuring all food meets Mission BBQ's quality, safety, and cleanliness standards. This role plays a key part in delivering authentic, made-from-scratch BBQ in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare fresh ingredients including meats, sides, sauces, and garnishes according to Mission BBQ recipes and standards Assist with trimming, portioning, seasoning, and prepping food for daily service Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary prep area at all times Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations Properly label, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures Support cooks and kitchen staff during peak service times Assist with opening and closing prep duties as assigned Uphold Mission BBQ's values of respect, teamwork, and consistency Qualifications Previous food prep or kitchen experience preferred, but not required Ability to follow recipes and detailed instructions Strong attention to detail and cleanliness Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment and requested to work with cleaning chemicals May inhale smoke from a wood burning cooker Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds Skills & Competencies Basic knife skills Time management and organization Knowledge of food safety practices Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Employer conducts Background check and Reference check Transportation to and from work Mission BBQ Culture At Mission BBQ, we proudly serve those who serve our communities.
