Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Worker - II to join our dining hall. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation, ensuring that residents and patients receive nutritious and well-presented meals. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual dietary requirements. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food processors. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food preparation areas, adhering to food safety standards such as JCAHO regulations. Handle food with proper techniques to ensure safe handling practices, including manual handling and heavy lifting when necessary. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and ensuring proper sanitation of utensils and surfaces. Follow prescribed menus and portion control procedures while managing time effectively to meet service deadlines. Assist with inventory management by receiving deliveries, storing supplies properly, and tracking stock levels. Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting practices. Collaborate with nursing staff or caregiving teams to accommodate special dietary needs for geriatric or medically compromised patients. Maintain accurate documentation related to food handling, sanitation procedures, and meal service. Skills Proven experience in food production within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or similar healthcare environments. Strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach when working with geriatric patients or residents. Basic math skills for portioning, inventory management, and meal planning. Experience in adhering to dietary requirements and working within a dietary or nutrition department setting. Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and safe manual handling practices. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while following established protocols such as JCAHO standards. CPR certification is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is advantageous. This role is vital in delivering nutritious meals that promote health and comfort for our residents.
