Banquet Captain - Events & Weddings Gather on Maui | Wailea, Maui, Hawaii Gather on Maui is seeking an experienced, organized, and hospitality-driven Banquet Captain to lead the execution of weddings, private events, corporate gatherings, and special celebrations at our Wailea location. With beautiful outdoor event spaces, ocean views, and a busy private-events program, Gather on Maui hosts everything from intimate dinners to large weddings and full restaurant events. The Banquet Captain will be the on-site leader during events , working closely with our Events, Management, Culinary, and Service teams to ensure every event is executed smoothly and according to plan. We're looking for someone who is confident leading a team, highly organized, comfortable communicating with clients and planners, and willing to jump in wherever needed to create an exceptional guest experience. What You'll Do Lead the on-site execution of weddings, banquets, and private events Review BEOs and event details before each event to ensure proper execution Coordinate event setup, service, timing, transitions, and breakdown Lead and direct banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff throughout events Conduct pre-event team meetings and communicate assignments, timelines, and service expectations Work closely with the Events Team, restaurant management, and culinary team Serve as a primary point of contact during events for planners, vendors, hosts, and internal teams Ensure tables, place settings, event spaces, bars, and service areas are set according to event specifications Coordinate food and beverage service timing with the kitchen Maintain high standards of hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail Anticipate guest and client needs and resolve issues quickly and professionally Monitor service standards and provide real-time coaching to the banquet team Assist with event setup and breakdown when needed Ensure event spaces are clean, organized, and properly reset Help maintain banquet equipment, supplies, and event inventory Complete event-related closing procedures and communicate important notes to management Who We're Looking For Previous banquet, catering, wedding, or private-event experience strongly preferred Previous Captain, Lead Server, Supervisor, or hospitality leadership experience preferred Strong understanding of elevated food and beverage service Excellent communication and organizational skills Confident leading and directing a team during high-pressure events Comfortable communicating professionally with wedding planners, vendors, clients, and guests Strong attention to detail and ability to follow BEOs and event timelines Ability to anticipate problems and make quick decisions during live events Positive, professional, and hospitality-focused attitude Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on events Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with banquet setup and service Why Gather on Maui?
