Job Goal:

Assist in preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals to students and staff; wash dishes and maintain a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment while supporting the mission and vision of the Catholic school.

Essential Functions:

Participates in the serving and preparation of food in accordance with the instructions of the Food Services Director. Assists in the daily cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, dishes, and utensils. Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen according to guidelines established by the State and County Health Departments, USDA, and Food Services Director. Uses proper procedures with receiving and storage of food and kitchen supplies. Maintains a good working relationship in a healthy atmosphere with students and staff. Communicates effectively with other employees, creating productivity and satisfaction in the workplace. Reports to the Food Services Director any faulty or inferior food quality which is made or received. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. Performs necessary duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge of USDA guidelines and County Health Departments Safe Food Handling Guidelines preferred. Previous work experience in food service in a facility of comparable size is preferred. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with coworkers, students, staff, parents, and members of the public required.

Must be able to position items over and under, push, pull, move and or lift a minimum of 10 pounds and be able to push, pull, move and or carry such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.

Cognitive:

Duties require a wide range of intellectual and practical, problem-solving skills and comprehension of complex concepts.
