Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Dietetics Support position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to feeding patients and customers in the Bothwell Café. This position reports directly to the Dietetics Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
a) Able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. b) Able to perform simple math computations.
Licensure/Certification:
a) None required.
Work Experience:
a) Food service background preferred. b) Will receive on-the-job training.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES
Pre-preparation and preparation of food items needed for patient tray line and patient nourishments. Keeps assigned work areas cleaned by: sweeping and mopping of department's floors, removal of trash and cleaning of containers, stocking of paper towels and soap dispensers, cleaning of grates, and completing the general assigned cleaning duties. Set-up/clean-up of patient and/or cafeteria tray line with food, beverages, and serving utensils, and placing any leftover food items in appropriate place following safety and sanitation standards. Cooks food on the grill and serves food to customers in the café. Responsible for washing, drying, and sanitizing of all dishes, flatware, pots and pans. Responsible for recording of food, refrigeration, and/or dish machine/rinse temperatures. Operates food equipment and maintains equipment following cleaning and sanitizing guidelines. Operates cash register. Answers phone and completes patients' menus according to physician orders. Delivers and returns meal trays and passes meal trays to patients, fulfilling patient requests as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Able to stand on feet most of day. 2. Walks short distances. 3. Stoops, lifts, carries and pushes when performing assigned duties. 4. Works indoors in well-lighted environment. 5. Subject to variation in temperatures when in freezer and hot when working in ware washing. 6. Uses small and large institutional food preparation equipment. 7. Working with cleaning chemicals. 8. Direct patient contact, possible exposure to infections, communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
