In this vital role, you will assist in meal preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining area. Duties Assist with food production, meal preparation, and plating according to dietary guidelines and safety standards Serve meals to residents or patients with courtesy, professionalism, and adherence to dietary requirements Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas through regular cleaning, sanitizing, and proper waste disposal Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, dishwashers, and food handling tools, following all safety protocols Support dietary department tasks such as food handling, bussing tables, and assisting with special dietary needs or modifications Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., JCAHO standards) and workplace safety procedures at all times Assist with manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of supplies or equipment using safe lifting practices while prioritizing resident or patient safety Manage time effectively to ensure timely meal service and efficient workflow during busy periods Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety standards are met Qualifications Previous assisted living or nursing home experience is highly desirable, with familiarity in working with geriatric patients preferred Experience in food production, culinary arts, or the food industry demonstrating knowledge of meal preparation and serving techniques Knowledge of food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and safe lifting methods aligned with workplace safety standards Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent customer service skills with a friendly approach towards residents or patients Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively while adhering to all health regulations Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and accurate record keeping Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), food handling permits, or other relevant health & safety credentials are advantageous Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods Join our team as a Dining Service Assistant where your dedication will directly impact the comfort and nutrition of those we serve.
