Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Food Service Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities and equipment. He/she may also assist in some aspects of food preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITLES
Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty; Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures; Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment; Delivers food carts, trays, etc. to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining room, as instructed by supervisor; Servers - in dining rooms; Prepare and deliver snacks as directed; Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures; Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor; Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights; Performs related work as assigned.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English language. Previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.
JOB SKILLS
Working knowledge of the methods and techniques of handling and serving food. Working knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling. Ability to follow diet lists, portion food as specified and serve food in an appetizing manner. Possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in the English language. Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
