Job Description

Overview Under the direct supervision of the Food Services Manager, the Choice Food Pantry Assistant ensures a welcoming, efficient and dignified grocery shopping experience for all Pantry visitors, while maintaining the high standards of food safety and organizational effectiveness. This is a 25 hour/week position (Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) Responsibilities Assist in the opening/closing procedures of the Choice Food Pantry Greet visitors warmly, maintaining a friendly environment Assist walk in shoppers with the registration process Guide client shoppers, explaining choice limits clearly Bag client groceries, packing the items carefully Train Choice Food Pantry volunteers to ensure proper conduct and that assignments are appropriately completed Stock pantry shelves, moving inventory from storage. Organize food displays, rotating stock Maintain the cleanliness of the Choice Food Pantry area, adhering to safety standards Provide back-up for the Choice Food Pantry Coordinator/Intake Facilitator in their absence, lunches and breaks, conducting basic office tasks such as answering phones, providing information to callers and walk in visitors, and manual data collection for the Choice Food Pantry Assist with seasonal events when needed (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Summer Camp) Other duties as assigned

Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Must be proficient working in Windows, and MS Office suite of applications Basic communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills needed Experience working with vulnerable poplulations is essential. The ability to work in a continually changing and challenging environment is required Must be able to lift 20 lbs Bilingual preferred
