DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Instructs and coaches department team members the proper methods of product care and processing of fresh and processed meat products. Must seek and maintain knowledge of other meat department job duties in order to respond to other job assignments as given by management. Maintains proper freshness and code dating of all meat items in compliance with governmental guidelines and company policies and procedures. Ensures proper receiving methods are used and product is refrigerated immediately upon arrival. Ensures proper department pricing, stocking, rotating and merchandising meet company policies, procedures and objectives. Merchandises ad items effectively. Responsible for gross profit, merchandising, preparing and displaying product within set guidelines and standards. Is aware of competitive activity within marketing area and plans aggressive merchandising programs to increase sales. Maintains effective control of department sales, wage expense and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines. Maintains adequate and proper records. Assists with establishing and monitoring work schedules for the department.

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
