The Sushi Chef is responsible for preparing sushi rolls according to restaurant recipes and presentation standards while maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and consistency. The ideal candidate is organized, works efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in producing high-quality dishes. Responsibilities Prepare and roll sushi according to established recipes and specifications. Maintain consistency in portioning, presentation, and quality. Properly handle and store seafood, vegetables, rice, and other ingredients. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Assist with ingredient preparation, including cutting fish, vegetables, and garnishes as directed. Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the shift. Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of orders. Monitor product freshness and report inventory needs to management. Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when needed. Follow all company policies, procedures, and health department regulations. Qualifications Previous sushi rolling experience preferred. Basic knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain one). Skills & Attributes Team-oriented attitude. Strong work ethic and reliability. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to maintain composure during busy service periods. Physical Requirements Standing and walking for extended periods. Frequent use of hands for cutting, rolling, and food preparation. Ability to lift and carry boxes, supplies, and ingredients up to 50 pounds.
