Job Description

Sous Chef - Indian Cuisine |
Hands-On, Scratch Cooking Healthy Tiffin Location:
On-site Additional rewards: Performance-based bonuses and RSU opportunities for qualifying top performers
Schedule:
6 AM to 3 PM Exceptional flavor. Real cooking. No shortcuts. Healthy Tiffin is looking for an exceptional, hands-on Sous Chef with deep expertise in Indian cuisine —someone who understands ingredients, respects recipes, and can consistently turn fresh produce, whole spices, lentils, grains, and proteins into outstanding food. We need more than someone who can follow a recipe. We need a chef who understands why it works : how flavors develop, when to add ingredients, how cooking techniques affect texture, and how to produce the same excellent result across every batch. This is a working chef position. Your ability to cook, taste, troubleshoot, and deliver matters more than your title. Our cooking philosophy At Healthy Tiffin, healthy cooking is not an afterthought—it is the foundation of our kitchen. We cook from scratch, with a focus on lower oil, balanced salt, and gentle spice levels without sacrificing flavor. That means building depth through technique, fresh ingredients, thoughtful seasoning, and careful cooking—not relying on excess fat, salt, heat, premade gravies, or ready-made cooking bases. You must be willing and able to adapt traditional recipes to this style. "This is how I have always cooked it" is not enough. We value chefs who bring expertise, stay curious, accept feedback, and improve. What you will own Cook and lead from the line. Personally prepare dishes while guiding the team through daily production. This is not a supervisory-only role. Deliver consistent flavor and quality. Taste every batch, recognize what needs adjustment, and maintain standards for seasoning, texture, doneness, and presentation. Execute recipes precisely. Follow approved ingredients, quantities, methods, and portion sizes. Help refine recipes through structured testing—not unapproved changes during production. Scale without losing quality. Understand batch cooking, yields, timing, and how to preserve flavor and texture as production volumes increase. Meet daily production deadlines. Organize preparation, prioritize critical tasks, and communicate potential delays or shortages early. Protect kitchen standards. Maintain food safety, allergen controls, cleanliness, ingredient handling, and waste discipline while coaching others to do the same. The chef we are looking for You have a proven, verifiable record of excellent hands-on cooking in professional kitchens , with strong command of Indian flavors, regional dishes, spice combinations, tempering, gravies, vegetables, lentils, rice, and proteins. You understand the difference between simply increasing recipe quantities and successfully scaling a dish. You can identify whether a problem comes from seasoning, moisture, cooking time, temperature, or technique—and respond appropriately. You are organized, dependable, receptive to feedback, and comfortable being accountable for your station and your team's output. Experience in high-volume scratch kitchens, meal production, or health-focused cooking is especially valuable. The ability to cook independently from scratch is essential. Experience primarily reheating, assembling, or finishing prepared products will not meet this role's requirements. Healthy Tiffin operates in a fast-moving startup environment with high pressure, firm daily deadlines, and little margin for error . Priorities can change, and the kitchen must still deliver. You need to stay composed, communicate clearly, solve problems early, and maintain standards when service pressure rises. Speed matters—but never at the expense of food safety or quality. This role suits a chef who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in execution, and wants to help build a stronger kitchen—not simply maintain an existing routine. Performance should be rewarded Alongside base compensation, this position offers performance-based bonuses and restricted stock unit (RSU) opportunities for qualifying top performers , subject to company approval, applicable plan terms, and vesting requirements.
We value sustained results:
excellent food, consistent execution, dependable delivery, strong teamwork, and measurable improvements—not occasional flashes of brilliance. How to apply Submit your résumé and a brief note explaining your hands-on responsibilities in your most recent kitchen, the production volume you personally handled, and an Indian dish you would adapt to Healthy Tiffin's lower-oil, balanced-salt, gentle-spice approach without losing its character. Tell us what you can cook, what you have delivered, and what makes your work exceptional.
