Chef Assistant La Grande Boucherie - Washington DC Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $25 - $27 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Kitchen health and safety standards Food service health code compliance Food sanitation practices Full Job Description La Grande Boucherie is looking for a Chef Assistant to support our Chef de Cuisine and help lead the kitchen. You'll help run production, put out high-quality plates in both presentation and taste, and keep service running on time and to our standards. You'll also be a leader and an example for our junior cooks. The Group Hospitality is a multi-concept restaurant group with locations in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Miami. Our concepts include La Grande Boucherie, Boucherie, Olio e Più and Omakase Room. What You'll Do Run production and expo, and drive the shift alongside the Chef on duty Lead cooks and porters through their daily responsibilities with clear direction Make sure every item is prepared properly and ready on time for service Place weekly product orders, keeping the right amounts on hand to limit waste Inspect, receive and put away deliveries, making sure product meets the highest quality standards Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers and distributors alongside the Chef de Cuisine Train new kitchen hires on recipes, quality and presentation standards Help train front-of-house staff on menu and food knowledge Take part in new menu workshops led by the CDC and/or Executive Chef Perform opening and closing procedures Conduct line checks throughout the day to make sure the kitchen meets Department of Health standards Keep the kitchen stocked, organized and properly labeled Promote safe work habits, and spot and resolve safety hazards What We're Looking For 1+ years of culinary experience, preferably as a Lead Cook or higher at a similar caliber restaurant Department of Health Food Protection Certificate (required) High school diploma or GED Positive leadership skills that inspire your team to meet and exceed standards Strong communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English Comfortable with kitchen math, including percentages Comfortable with Gmail, Microsoft Office and other kitchen systems Stays calm and professional under pressure Available to work nights, weekends, holidays and a variable schedule Able to stand, walk and bend for long periods and lift 30+ pounds The Group Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer.
