The Ned and Ned's Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. Seven years after launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to have opened a Ned's Club in the US capital, our fourth and newest location.
The Property:
Ned's Club Washington DC is a members' club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President's Park at 734 15th Street NW. The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-storey building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch. The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder's Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces. As the Sushi Sous Chef, you will report directly into the Executive Sous Chef you will: Will work with the Executive Chef to lead the team in the production of our food, compiling the daily mise-en-place, and ensuring that all food is cooked and presented to our exceptional Ned standards
Support and Lead our kitchen operations at Kaia on a day-to-day basis
Support with all people leadership tasks for Kaia - including team recruitment, development and performance chats, onboarding new starters - this is a great role for an aspiring Executive Sous Chef who wants to build their people management skillset
Be a guardian of food quality and presentation, monitoring all food leaving your kitchen and providing coaching and feedback to the team where needed
Create and monitor a safe and clean kitchen environment, protecting our guests and team from any possible harm
Protect our excellent food safety ratings and audit standards by always keeping a close eye on procedures and practices, keeping impeccable records, and implementing action plans where necessary
Be a mainstay of our kitchen team, you'll be preparing all meat, fish, sushi, poultry, and vegetables
Ability to assist with all administrative aspects of managing the kitchen to include, scheduling, food cost, waste and menu creation. What you can bring to the role: Experience in a culinary leadership role in an Asian restaurant concept focusing on sushi and sashimi
Previous kitchen leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering outstanding food and people management
Our customers and guests expect the best, so high standards are essential
An organized and detailed manner is necessary, as impeccable record keeping is needed to maintain records for our safety and audit standards
A commercial mindset is needed in all our leaders. As second in command you will support your Executive Chef in delivering excellent financial performance and results
Creative flare is always welcome - our menus change seasonally, and you may be offered the opportunity to support with food design and creation
Our kitchens can be high pressure so a calm demeanor and a genuine passion for providing guests with exceptional food is essential
Ideally the person in this role would be preparing to be a future Executive Chef, so a desire to learn and progress is preferred, but not essential
Able to work various shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Can lift, pull, push a minimum of 35 pounds What can Ned's Club give you? Salary of up to $90,000 per year
