Bakery Team Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides daily direction, scheduling, training, oversight, and accountability for bakery team members. Job Purpose Under the general supervision of the Retail Manager, the Pastry Chef is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the bakery and directing the bakery team in the production of baked goods for Reverie locations, off-site events, catering, and wholesale customers. The Pastry Chef is both a hands-on production baker and a working supervisor. This position is responsible for ensuring that the bakery has appropriate staffing, clear daily priorities, adequate ingredients and supplies, production is completed accurately and on schedule, quality standards are maintained, and the bakery remains clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked. The Pastry Chef is responsible for creating employee schedules, approving timesheets and submitting employee time-off requests within established guidelines, training bakery employees, monitoring performance, ordering and maintaining appropriate levels of raw ingredients and kitchen supplies, and communicating significant staffing, purchasing, production, quality, or operational issues to the Retail Manager. General Requirements
  • Must be able to work some weekends and some holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work early morning shifts.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to initiate problem solving.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Ability to understand and implement Standard Operating Procedures. Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands and fingers to complete work-related tasks.
  • Regularly reach, pull, push, lift, and package products.
  • Stand for extended periods, including shifts of 8 hours or more.
  • Work in a commercial bakery environment with exposure to heat, cold, flour, food products, ovens, refrigeration, and other typical bakery conditions.

  • Knowledge of bread, laminated doughs, and other specialty pastry products.
  • 3+ years of professional baking experience required.
  • 2+ year of experience training, leading, or supervising employees required.
  • 3+ years of high-volume bakery production experience preferred.
  • One-year (or more) certificate from a college or technical school is a plus.
  • Culinary school program or degree, or advanced skills baking program certificate is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required. ServSafe Certification, or the ability to acquire. ServSafe Manager Certification a plus.
