The Center at Waterfront is a leading facility in Wichita, KS, dedicated to providing exceptional short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. We believe that nutritious, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared meals are integral to the well-being and recovery of our residents.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and compassionate Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in delivering high-quality culinary experiences for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong leadership skills, and an understanding of dietary needs in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services. Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes, dietary restrictions, and safety standards. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Maintain inventory, assist with ordering, and manage food costs effectively. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in the kitchen. Contribute to menu planning, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and resident satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-3 years of culinary experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or Sous Chef role. Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred. Knowledge of dietary restrictions and nutritional requirements common in long-term care (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed). Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations (ServSafe certification preferred). Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
