Full-Time About Wilder's Wilder's is a contemporary celebration of classic American dining and Midwest supper club culture, located in heart of downtown Birmingham. Known for our Art Deco aesthetic, precise culinary technique, and high hospitality standards, we take pride in delivering an elevated dining experience from the first bite to the final dessert. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Prep Cook with dedicated experience in dessert production to join our kitchen team. This dual-focused role involves executing standard kitchen prep work (chopping, sauce preparation, mis en place maintenance) while directly supporting our pastry and dessert station. Key Responsibilities Prepare raw ingredients, stock items, dressings, and prep components according to kitchen recipe standards. Execute daily dessert prep including baking, mixing batches, preparing syrups/pastries, and portioning dessert items. Maintain clean station organization, proper food labeling, rotation (FIFO), and strict adherence to food safety standards. Communicate inventory needs and prep shortages directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs.
Qualifications & Skills Prep Experience:
1-2+ years of culinary prep experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
Dessert Experience Required:
Proven background with baking techniques, pastry prep, batch dessert production, or pastry station line execution.
Technical Skills:
Sharp knife handling, accurate measurement reading, and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment (mixers, convection ovens, scales).
Work Style:
Self-motivated with high attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and a team-first attitude under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
