- Clinton Township, MI We're seeking a dependable and motivated First Cook/Sous Chef to join our scratch kitchen team.
This role is critical to ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation for our banquet events. The ideal candidate is passionate about culinary excellence, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to contribute to a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen. This is a great opportunity for a recent culinary graduate to gain hands-on experience or for a seasoned professional to lead and mentor within a team-oriented setting.
Responsibilities:
- Execute food preparation and cooking with precision in a scratch kitchen environment, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and uphold all food safety, health, and sanitation standards.
- Participate in all aspects of kitchen operations including prep, line cooking, plating, and cleaning duties.
- Assist the Head Chef in training junior staff and coordinating food production timelines during events.
- Operate kitchen equipment with care and report any maintenance issues as needed.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree from an accredited institution or equivalent hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knife skills and solid understanding of food preparation, seasoning, and cooking methods.
- Working knowledge of food safety practices, including proper storage, temperature control, and allergen awareness.
- Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and work efficiently with attention to detail.
- A team player with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to take initiative.
