Working closely with the Director of Dinning Services and the culinary team, the Sous Chef helps ensure that meals are nutritious, appetizing, timely, and thoughtfully prepared while creating a positive dining experience for our residents. Our Sous Chefs Are... Artists You take pride in food that tastes as good as it looks. Prepare and serve meals that are highly palatable, nutritious, and appetizing in appearance. Creatively accommodate resident dietary needs, restrictions, allergies, and texture modifications while maintaining quality and presentation. Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, portion standards, and caloric requirements. Take pride in presentation, flavor, freshness, and consistency. Help bring creativity and care to everyday dining experiences. Collaborative Team Members You understand that great dining takes a great team. Assist with supervising, training, and supporting dietary and kitchen staff. Partner with dietary and nursing staff to ensure each resident's individual dietary plan and overall regimen of care is maintained. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure food preparation, meal service, cleanup, and kitchen maintenance run efficiently. Communicate effectively with nursing, dietary staff, residents, families, and leadership. Assist with setting up and preparing for the next shift to help ensure the team is set up for success. Work with residents and their families as needed to support a positive and personalized dining experience. Step in and provide leadership and direction when the Chef or Director of Food Services is unavailable. Quality-Driven You believe every meal is an opportunity to provide excellent service and care. Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner. Maintain high standards for food quality, taste, appearance, portion control, and consistency. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements. Ensure kitchen cleaning and maintenance are completed according to applicable licensing and safety guidelines. Maintain adequate food and kitchen supplies and assist with inventory as directed. Properly store, rotate, and label food and supplies. Minimize food waste and dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and regulations. Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. What We're Looking For Previous experience in a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, Chef, or similar culinary role. Experience working in a high-volume food service environment preferred. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and food safety practices. Ability to follow recipes, menus, portion guidelines, and special dietary instructions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team. Dependable, professional, and willing to lead by example. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Healthcare, senior living, skilled nursing, or institutional food-service experience is a plus, but not required . Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner. Maintain high standards for food quality, taste, appearance, portion control, and consistency. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements. Ensure kitchen cleaning and maintenance are completed according to applicable licensing and safety guidelines. Maintain adequate food and kitchen supplies and assist with inventory as directed. English language fluently in order to communicate with patients, families, care team, and other team members in written and verbal form.
