Job Description

Job Overview We are hiring a skilled Tandoori Chef to lead the tandoor station in our Indian restaurant. You will prepare and cook all tandoori dishes, primarily marinated and grilled meats and fresh baked naan and breads. Our kitchen serves a buffet at lunch and à la carte at dinner, so you will need to work efficiently at volume during the day and with precision at night. You will also own ordering for your station and contribute ideas for specials and menu updates. Responsibilities Prepare, marinate, cook, and plate all tandoori dishes, including kebabs, grilled meats, and naan and other breads, with consistent flavor and presentation. Prep and stock the tandoor station for the lunch buffet and transition to à la carte service for dinner. Place weekly ingredient orders for the tandoor station, monitor stock levels, and minimize waste. Recommend menu additions and special items based on seasonality, guest feedback, and ingredient availability. Maintain food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling standards at your station at all times. Coordinate with the rest of the kitchen team and front of house to keep service running smoothly during busy periods. Help control food cost at your station without compromising quality. Experience and Qualifications Proven experience cooking Indian cuisine, with hands-on tandoor experience in a restaurant setting. Strong knowledge of marinades, spice blending, and traditional tandoori techniques. Ability to produce consistent quality at buffet volume and at à la carte pace. Familiarity with ordering, inventory, and basic food cost management. Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Reliable, organized, and able to work as part of a small kitchen team.
