Job Description

No Nights and No Weekends! As a District Chef for a school district, your leadership ability and skills will be called upon to achieve consistently high standards. You will be responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction in the cafeterias; developing your subordinates to grow professionally with us; ensuring a free flow of positive communication with subordinates and superiors; and participating in the ongoing process of updating and improving all aspects of the cafeteria.
Overview:
Proper ordering and inventory management if applicable, handling, storage, preparation, cooking and serving of all food items in accordance with company guidelines and National Lunch Program requirements, if applicable. Regularly review the friendliness and speed of service to our customers and initiate improvements where needed to conform to company standards. Oversee quality and presentation of food, checking it meets our high standards and assure variety is offered daily. Ensure that all sanitation regulations are followed by staff, including but not limited to - gloves worn at all times during preparation and while serving; proper serving temperatures are maintained and recorded on production records daily; hair retrains, proper uniform worn daily and checked for cleanliness. Discuss with Food Service Director new menu ideas, recipes and equipment needs for district for continued program advancement. Maintaining a successful ServSafe Manager Certificate is required as needed. Responsible for executing all district catering events from cooking to set up and service with the direction of the Food Service Director. Travel to schools within the district to teach and train managers and staff how to properly prepare meals, menu specials and promotions. The following are some, but not all, examples of the essential job functions: Ability to stand for long periods of time Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting (25-50 pounds) Ability to use general cafeteria equipment (e.g. warmer, fryer, slicer, grill, etc.) Ability to come to work promptly and regularly Ability to take direction and work well with others Ability to accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes Ability to concentrate and perform duties accurately Ability to learn and apply policies and procedures Ability to react to change productively and handle other tasks assigned Ability to complete all applicable training programs Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Meet all training and educational requirements under Professional Standards Ability to travel within the school district.
