Gill Grilling Company About Gill Grilling Gill Grilling has been providing customized food service to fraternities and sororities nationwide for more than 20 years. Our chefs work directly inside chapter houses, creating fresh, personalized menus based on each client's preferences. Unlike a traditional restaurant environment, our campus positions offer a more predictable schedule, consistent clientele, creative freedom, and the opportunity to build relationships with the people you serve. We pride ourselves on providing our culinary team with strong operational support while giving our chefs ownership of their kitchens. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead daily food service operations at a fraternity/sorority house at Ohio University in Athens, OH . This is a hands-on culinary leadership position for someone who enjoys running their own kitchen, preparing high-quality meals, managing food costs and inventory, and interacting directly with clients. The ideal candidate is an experienced chef who is organized, dependable, personable, and comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day success of the kitchen.
Reports To:
Campus Manager Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve fresh, high-quality meals for chapter members Manage daily kitchen operations, prep, production, and meal service Develop menus in collaboration with your Campus Manager and adjust offerings based on client feedback Build positive relationships with chapter members and proactively gather feedback Manage food ordering, inventory, product rotation, and waste Maintain appropriate food and labor costs Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with food-safety standards Maintain accurate records and complete required administrative tasks Communicate consistently with your Campus Manager and corporate support team Supervise, train, and provide direction to additional kitchen staff as needed Support occasional chapter events or special meals Qualifications 4+ years of professional culinary experience , preferably in a high-volume, institutional, campus, club, catering, or similar environment Previous experience managing a kitchen or working independently as a lead chef Strong knowledge of food ordering, inventory management, prep, and kitchen operations Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute meal service independently Strong communication and customer-service skills Professional, dependable, organized, and proactive Comfortable receiving feedback and adjusting menus to meet client preferences ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification prior to starting Comfortable using email, Google Workspace, and basic workplace apps Experience in a repeat-service environment such as campus dining, country clubs, corporate dining, private clubs, or residential food service is a plus Why Join Gill Grilling?
