Built on the Serafini family's restaurant legacy that began in 1938 , we combine classic Italian hospitality with a modern dining experience. Our menu features family recipes, fresh ingredients, and house-made pasta crafted daily. We are committed to delivering exceptional food, outstanding hospitality, and a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Position Summary We are seeking a passionate, organized, and hands-on Head Chef to lead the back-of-house team and oversee all kitchen operations. This individual will be responsible for maintaining exceptional food quality, developing kitchen staff, controlling costs, and ensuring an efficient, organized kitchen that consistently delivers an outstanding guest experience. The Head Chef will work closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership to execute our vision while fostering a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Responsibilities Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team while setting high standards for professionalism and performance Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate BOH employees Oversee all daily kitchen operations, including prep, line execution, and service Create and maintain prep lists, recipes, and kitchen procedures Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor relationships Control food costs, portioning, waste, and overall kitchen profitability Create and manage BOH schedules to ensure proper staffing levels Maintain recipe consistency and presentation standards Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment Coordinate with front-of-house management to ensure smooth service and communication Resolve kitchen issues quickly and professionally Open and close the kitchen as required Assist in menu development, seasonal features, and recipe refinement Help establish and maintain a positive team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement Qualifications Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or similar culinary leadership role Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Experience managing food and labor costs Knowledge of inventory systems and purchasing Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation standards Ability to lead calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Benefits Competitive salary (based on experience) Flexible scheduling Employee dining discount Paid Time Off after 6 months of employment Health, Dental & Vision Insurance after 1 year of employment Free employee parking Professional growth and advancement opportunities Collaborative, family-oriented work environment Equal Opportunity Employer Serafini's Trattoria is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
