Job Description

Job Title:
School Chef (Full time) Reports to: Executive and Program Director (Supported by Food Service Manager)
Position Overview:
This role requires a dedicated and reliable individual with a passion for food service and a commitment to providing healthy meals for children. Our chefs play a pivotal role in bringing balanced nutrition to our students. As the chef, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on these students through your passion and mastery of culinary arts. Responsibilities include planning, preparing, and serving nutritious and appealing meals and snacks to our children, and ensuring that all dietary needs and preferences are met. You will also play a key role in educating children about healthy eating habits and fostering a love for good food.
Key Responsibilities:
Working with the Food Service Manager to continually improve upon the menu. Prep, Cook and Clean at the highest quality. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and state licensing policies. Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste. Cost analysis will be involved in procurement of ingredients. Working closely with the director to ensure budgets are under control and standards are being met. Educating Children on what is a healthy balanced diet, encouraging students to try new foods, and creating activities to grow a positive relationship with food. Work with teachers to coordinate meal schedules and ensure seamless service. Making sure that allergies are accounted for. Communicate with parents about their children's dietary needs and preferences. Growth and inspiration are what we value at our schools. We are looking for a chef that is passionate about learning and incorporating those lessons into our food program.
Integrity:
This job is mostly autonomous and you will be working by yourself most of the time. We expect our chef to hold our standards regardless of if anyone is watching.
Qualifications:
Experience as a chef or cook in a professional kitchen setting. Food Manager certificate or Culinary arts degree Passion for cooking and a genuine interest in child nutrition and wellness. Organizational and time management skills. Strong Communication skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Creativity and a positive attitude. Must be able to pass a background check

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
