Sushi Chef Reports to: Master Sushi Chef Pledge for

Position Summary:
Responsible for creating, crafting, and presenting the best Sushi experience for every guest by embracing the passion for food, guest and experience that our restaurant exemplifies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promotes superior guest service. Maintains, and perpetuates a positive organizational culture according to the principles of the Spirit of Tâlícn and the Core Values of ilani.
  • Consistently demonstrates collaborative, relationship building, welcoming and mutually respectful behaviors.
  • Responsible for supplying and maintaining your own knives .
  • Be proactive in assisting other sushi chefs by taking orders from guests .
  • Improve your skills as a sushi chef by practicing and/or studying (books, internet, dine out).
  • Follow orders from your leadership.
  • Be a leader when working at middle section.
  • Check the quality of fish and other materials when they are delivered to the restaurant.
  • Check the quality of fish and other materials before preparing dish.
  • Be proactive with providing an engaging and professional guest experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED; Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma (RED) or Foreign High School Diploma (FHD).
  • 3 years' experience prepping and preparing Sushi in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours.
  • Valid Food Handler's card.
  • Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.
