Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Banquet Chef/Kitchen manager to run our community club's kitchen in delivering exceptional banquet and meeting experiences. This role is vital in orchestrating the preparation, presentation, and service of high-quality dishes for events, ranging from 30 - 300 guests, ensuring every detail meets our standards of quality and client satisfaction. As a Banquet Chef/Kitchen Manager, you will oversee kitchen operations during events, manage food production, and inspire your team of volunteer kitchen staff to create memorable dining moments that delight our guests. Your leadership will drive culinary innovation, uphold food safety standards, and maintain efficient inventory control to support seamless event execution. This position could eventually evolve into a combined General Manager/Kitchen Manager position over time. This club is owned and managed by a veteran organization and has been in business for over 50 years. The ability to effectively work with volunteer help is CRUCIAL to success for the appropriate candidate and this organization. Advise and coordinate with the club's general manager with regards to all aspects of meal planning, preparation, and serving for scheduled meetings/events. Establish an organized inventory system for the club's food operations services. Coordinate with the bar manager for all events. Lead the planning and execution of banquet menus, ensuring they align with event themes and client specifications while maintaining high culinary standards. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation for large-scale events, including fine dining functions and special occasions. Manage kitchen staff by providing clear direction, training, and motivation to foster a cohesive team environment focused on quality and efficiency. Assist the volunteer membership and leadership team in planning, procurement of supplies, and the supervision of volunteer prep staff for annual 4-day local festival. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, controlling food costs, and minimizing waste through effective stock rotation and storage practices. Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all banquet operations. Collaborate with event planners, clients, and volunteer teams to ensure timely setup, service flow, and guest satisfaction during events. Monitor shift operations, troubleshoot issues promptly, and maintain a positive atmosphere that encourages teamwork and excellence in food service. Train new volunteers in kitchen duties; MAY include training an assistant kitchen manager. Proven banquet experience with a strong background in small to medium-scale food production and catering services. Supervising experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, demonstrating leadership skills and team management capabilities. Extensive culinary experience with a focus on fine dining presentation, menu planning, and food handling procedures. Knowledge of inventory control systems, food safety protocols, and kitchen management best practices. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during high-volume events. Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with staff, vendors, and clients.
