Director of Nursing Position Type:
Full-Time / Part-Time / PRN Position Summary The Resident Companion & Appointment Escort ensures resident safety, well-being, and peaceful engagement both on-site and during community outings. This role focuses purely on non-clinical supervision, continuous observation ("sitter" care), and logistical support for residents attending off-site medical appointments. No hands-on personal care or clinical certifications are required.
Key Responsibilities Medical Appointment Escort:
Accompany residents in facility-provided or third-party non-emergency medical transportation to off-site medical, dental, and therapy appointments. Check in at reception desk, deliver appointment packets/charts to the provider, and maintain possession of required paperwork. Remain present with the resident throughout the visit to offer calm reassurance, track appointment flow, and secure clinical notes/discharge paperwork prior to departure. Hand over all appointment documentation and provide a brief verbal update to the charge nurse upon returning to the facility.
In-House Observation & Companion Care:
Provide continuous line-of-sight observation ("sitter" care) for residents identified as high-fall risk, confused, or requiring one-on-one attention. Engage residents in calm, meaningful 1-on-1 activities (conversing, reading aloud, listening to music, folding linens, simple crafts). Promptly alert nursing staff if the resident requests assistance with mobility, transfers, or personal care, or if they exhibit signs of distress, pain, or agitation.
Logistical & Administrative Support:
Ensure resident belongings, personal items, and comfort items (e.g., jackets, blankets) travel safely with them to and from appointments. Maintain strict resident confidentiality (HIPAA) and uphold resident rights during all community interactions. Hours this is an on-call position requiring avaialbility for the following shift times as needed: AM 6:30am to 3:00pm
PM:
2:30pm to 11:00pm
NOC:
10:30pm to 7:00am
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if operating facility fleet vehicles).
Experience:
Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, senior companion care, or guest services preferred; long-term care background is a plus but not required.
Skills:
High degree of patience, empathy, strong communication skills, and reliability.
Pay:
$16.90 per hour
