POSITION SUMMARY
The Visitor Engagement Associate is an enthusiastic customer service professional who assists guests at our ticketing/front desk and gift shop. Our Visitor Engagement team is upbeat, outgoing, welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional at all times, and lives to serve our guests and help facilitate a fun and memorable experience for children and their families. The Visitor Engagement Associate also assists with evening events as needed, including weddings and corporate rental events. Visitor Engagement Associates work as part of a team, often alongside one or more coworkers, and sometimes independently with limited supervision. ___________________________________________________________________
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome all CuriOdyssey visitors, volunteers, and fellow staff team members with a genuine greeting and a smile. Be knowledgeable about our products, services, and merchandise and answer customer questions. Perform the daily opening and closing procedures consistently, including walking through the animal exhibits, unlocking doors, and ensuring that all exhibits are on and functioning properly. Sell admissions, memberships, and merchandise. Ring up transactions correctly using the POS system. Stock & merchandise throughout the day, if needed. Store products include books, toys, drinks, snacks, etc. Communicate needs to the Manager throughout the day for front desk supplies and gift shop inventory. Regular communication via radio with individuals throughout the CuriOdyssey staff team and for the handling of emergency situations. Answer phones and in-person inquiries with courtesy and professionalism. Light housekeeping duties (cleaning exhibits and the front desk at the start and end of the day; bending and reaching to pick up exhibit items; replacing printer toner and/or drum; etc.). ____________________________________________________________
MARGINAL DUTIES
Printing, cutting, and/or folding necessary items for distribution at the front desk. Laminating signage. Assist birthday families with check-in while providing a warm welcome and all needed information about their birthday party. Assist groups with check-in, provide all necessary information for their visit, and make them feel welcome. ____________________________________________________________
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive, friendly demeanor. Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or related software. Money handling skills. Dependable and reliable. Ability to multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities. Merchandising skills a plus. Demonstrated ability to apply sensible & sound thinking when handling situations. Ability to communicate in English (multi-lingual is a plus). ____________________________________________________________
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 1 year of customer service experience Minimum 6 months cash handling experience Experience in a museum setting or admissions-based setting, and/or working with children, a plus. ____________________________________________________________

COMPENSATION, SCHEDULE & BENEFITS
Pay Rate:
$25.00/hour
Status:
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position beginning October 2026 .
Schedule:
The general work schedule is 8 hours per day, with preferred availability Sunday through Thursday, between 9:00am - 5:30pm. At least one weekend work day is required.
