In this role, you'll provide genuine companionship and engagement through conversation, outings, and shared experiences, helping foster connection and joy. This is a paid, purely social role focused on presence and conversation, not caregiving. A Note on Where We Are After Eight Social is brand new — we're building our client base from the ground up, and you'd be joining at the very start. That means engagements won't be steady or frequent right away; bookings will grow as we do. This is a great fit for someone who wants flexible, occasional work and the chance to help shape something early, not someone who needs guaranteed hours from day one. Responsibilities Engage seniors in genuine conversation, recreational activities, and social outings to promote connection and mental stimulation Accompany clients to dinners, cultural events, and community outings — including driving to/from the venue and, when requested, picking up and dropping off the client Sustain warm, attentive, energetic conversation for the full length of a 2+ hour engagement Navigate upscale restaurants, cultural venues, and formal events comfortably and confidently Communicate professionally with clients and the After Eight Social team Maintain a polished, reliable presence for every engagement Requirements Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and comfort driving in the evening, including client pickup/drop-off Available and energetic for full evening or weekend engagements (typically 2+ hours) Comfortable and confident in upscale social settings — fine dining, events, and formal venues Strong conversational stamina — able to carry engaging, attentive conversation throughout a long engagement, not just in short bursts Excellent interpersonal skills and a polished, professional presentation Reliable, punctual, and treats every booking as a professional commitment 18+ Prior experience in hospitality, events, or community engagement is a plus (not required) This is an independent contractor position focused entirely on companionship, with no personal care, medical tasks, or caregiving duties required or expected. Engagements are typically 2-hour bookings, scheduled as they come in — a flexible fit for someone building steady, ongoing work without a fixed weekly commitment.
