Position Purpose:

The Student Care Specialist will support the students of Charis Bible College by providing spiritual care, crisis assistance, emotional support, and connecting them with local resources for continued spiritual health during times of need. This role is a key resource for students who require more concentrated care, alleviating the burden on other Charis teams while helping students achieve their optimal experience at Charis, thereby improving retention.

Essential Duties:

Serve as the primary point of contact for handling escalated student issues, including emotional crises, ensuring immediate and appropriate response. Provide spiritual care and guidance to students, aligning with Charis doctrine and beliefs, and directing them to scriptural truths taught by Charis instructors. Be familiar with and remain up to date on the values, doctrines, policies, and procedures of Charis Bible College, reflecting that to students at all times. Be available to respond to student emergencies and crises during non-business hours, including nights and weekends. Offer compassionate support and active listening to students experiencing emotional distress, helping them feel understood and supported. Mediate conflicts between students, working towards peaceful and constructive resolutions. Establish relationships with local churches, ministries, and community resources for quality referrals and resources for students. Work closely with Residence Life staff, the Dean of Students, Student Advising, Security, and other departments to ensure coordinated support for students in crisis. Develop and implement protocols for handling student crises, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in responses. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and interventions, ensuring proper follow-up and reporting. Provide training and resources to staff and student leaders on how to identify and respond to student crises and emotional needs. Maintain a visible and approachable presence on campus, building trust and rapport with the student body. Approach student issues with cultural sensitivity and awareness, respecting diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Communicate with parents and guardians as necessary, providing updates and addressing concerns about their student's well-being. Participate in and support campus events and activities that foster a family environment. Stay informed about best practices in student care and crisis intervention, continually seeking ways to enhance the support provided to students. Offer spiritual support and guidance on issues such as suicidal ideation, trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, grief, loss, family crises, etc. Remain on-call 24/7 as a critical campus resource, communicating properly to key department leaders during any periods of unavailability. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, attending to the tone of verbal and electronic communication, as well as the formatting, grammar, syntax, and other elements that support clear messaging. Superior time management, organization, and administration with attention to detail. Keen eye for troubleshooting and analysis. Strong budgetary skills. Detail-oriented and precise record-keeping and data tracking. Strategic prioritization of various tasks and assignments. Inspiring and humble management and leadership, with assertiveness to direct a team effectively and with clear communication and expectations. Strong technical skills with the ability to learn new software quickly and train others in it, as well as utilizing presentation platforms and student information databases, and integrating these platforms when necessary. Proficiently operate a computer and navigate all the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Excellent listening skills, innovative problem-solving capabilities, and efficient decision-making aptitude. Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Maintain high effectiveness in managing stressful situations. High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information. Integrity and passion to always carry out direction from executive leadership. Service orientation, grounded in compassion and partnership, reflecting the mission and vision of Charis Bible College, and elevating the school's word-of-mouth recruitment and retention.

Requirements:

Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must sign the Statement of Faith. In-depth knowledge of all aspects of Charis Bible College, Andrew Wommack Ministries, and the Word of God. Demonstrated proficiency in using biblical principles to help people work through life issues. Exemplified maturity in Christian behavior with exceptional interpersonal skills in working with people from various backgrounds. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. A Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred. Must pass all required checks.

Experience:

5+ years of proven spiritual care experience is required in a ministry or professional setting. Proven spiritual care experience working with all ages. Management experience in a Christian organization is preferred. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
