Job Description
Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. (RSS), a not-for-profit mental health agency, is searching for a Residence Counselor to work with psychiatrically disabled adults in our community residence in Washingtonville, NY. Qualifications and Skills:
High School Diploma/GED or greater Must be computer literate Active/Valid NYS driver's license Successful completion of the Justice Center and New York State Office of Children and Families Statewide Central Register Database clearance Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships with residents.
- Aid and encourage residents to meet the established goals of their service plans.
- Provide information, referral and advocacy.
- Ensure the protection of all client civil liberties, rights, and property.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Prepare and maintain accurate client records and other reporting requirements.
- Supervise self-medication of residents.
- Teach skills of daily living.
- Conduct fire drills.
- On-call responsibilities, if applicable.
- Ensure clients are transported to needed services in a timely manner.
- Maintain valid American Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR/First Aid certification.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
- Participate, when appropriate, in training sessions designed to enhance growth and skill development.
- Perform other reasonably related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as required.
