Job Description

Pay:
$150 stipend per seven-night on-call block, plus $60 per completed hospital accompaniment response

Tri-County SPEAKS Sexual Assault Center (TCS) is seeking dedicated advocates to participate in our Hope Overnight Program, a specialized advocacy program providing overnight support to survivors of sexual violence.
Job description:
The Hope Overnight Advocate is responsible for serving survivors of sexual assault and their families for Tri-County
S.P.E.A.K.S.
Sexual Assault Center, the oldest rape crisis center in South Carolina. HOPE Overnight ensures that survivors who need advocacy support or hospital accompaniment during overnight hours have access to a trained TCS advocate. The program provides consistent overnight coverage while creating a sustainable structure for advocates who can make a regular commitment to overnight response. Typically, there are fewer than 10 overnight hotline calls per month.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Hope Overnight advocates serve as an extension of the TCS volunteer advocate team and provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered, confidential, and professional support in accordance with TCS policies and procedures.
They will also:
Monitor the designated communication channel throughout their assigned shift Remain available and prepared to respond during overnight coverage period Have the ability to travel safely to and from hospital overnight Have the ability to remain responsive throughout the 12 AM-8AM shift Communicate clearly with hospital staff and TCS staff Provide crisis intervention and emotional support within the scope of their training Explain available TCS services and resources Advocate for the survivor's needs, choices, and autonomy Maintain survivor confidentiality Complete all required documentation following an accompaniment or other advocacy interaction Notify TCS staff of any significant concerns, safety issues, or unusual circumstances Follow all TCS policies, hospital procedures, and advocate expectations Assist in the coordination of emergency housing and transportation as needed Maintain client information and contacts in accordance with agency policy and funding requirements. The advocate will have primary responsibility for ensuring client information is properly recorded and maintained following hotline calls and ER accompaniment. Complete Hope Overnight Advocate training and Volunteer Training Attend 8 hours of professional development each year Perform other duties as assigned and/or requested. Time Commitment Advocates will work a minimum of seven on-call shifts per month, with each shift running from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Contracts are three months long with the option to renew. Additionally, Hope Overnight Advocates are expected to participate in debrief meetings as needed.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma Minimum Experience:
1 year preferred Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have reliable transportation and phone service. Must live within approximately 40 minutes of MUSC's Emergency Department and able to arrive within 40 minutes of being contacted for a hospital response

able to adapt when hospital processes, communication or circumstances don't go as expected Commitment to confidentiality and understands the importance of protecting sensitive survivor information
Technology Proficiency:
comfortable using a smartphone, GroupMe, electronic documentation systems and other communication tools Tri-County
