Job Description
The job of Cafe Cook is done for the purpose/s of cooking, baking and preparing food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students/staff; verifying quantities and specifications of orders; and maintaining facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.
This job reports to the Cafe Site Manager.
Essential Functions:
Cleans utensils, equipment, as well as storage, food preparation and serving areas
Estimates food preparation amounts
Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature
Inspects and inventories food items and/or supplies
Oversees and participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items
Prepares documentation, (e.g. production sheets, daily reports, inventory logs, equipment order forms, etc.)
Procures food items, equipment and supplies from warehouse and/or outside vendors
Serves one or more items of food (selected locations only)
Stocks food, condiments and supplies
Assists other personnel as may be required
Maintains confidentiality of student school lunch eligibility and participates in various activities (e.g. estimate/requisition food quantities, marketing activities, barbeques, picnics, etc.).
Qualifications:
Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance
Experience desired
Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
5.5 or 8 hours daily. This is a 10 month School Year position only.
