Duties Prepare and cook a variety of menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools. Follow food safety protocols diligently, managing proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices to prevent contamination. Assist in menu planning by suggesting innovative dishes and seasonal specials that align with dietary requirements. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area by cleaning workstations, utensils, appliances, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Collaborate closely with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery schedules. Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while adhering to recipe specifications and presentation standards. Experience Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food service environment. Familiarity with dietary department procedures and dietary aide responsibilities is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments. Skilled in knife handling, slicing techniques, and general culinary skills such as cooking, seasoning, and plating. Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and other departments. Prior experience in menu planning, meal preparation, or catering is a plus.
