Position Summary The Lead Line Cook plays a key leadership role in the kitchen and works directly with the Chef to maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, cleanliness, organization, and execution. As Lead Line Cook, you will assist the Chef with keeping kitchen standards high at all times, especially in the Chef's absence. When the Chef is not present, you will take charge of the kitchen line, help direct the culinary team, and ensure that service runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is ideal for an experienced and passionate culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Assist the Chef with overseeing daily kitchen operations and maintaining established kitchen standards. Take charge of the kitchen line and help lead the BOH team when the Chef is absent. Ensure all dishes are prepared, cooked, portioned, and presented according to established recipes and standards. Maintain consistency and quality during both high-volume and slower service periods. Lead by example with a strong sense of urgency, professionalism, organization, and teamwork. Communicate clearly with cooks, prep staff, dishwashers, servers, bartenders, and management to ensure smooth service. Help train, coach, and mentor line cooks and junior kitchen staff. Assign stations, delegate tasks, and help keep the kitchen organized during service. Monitor ticket times and communicate any delays or issues to the appropriate team members. Ensure proper opening, closing, prep, cleaning, and side-work procedures are completed. Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, temperature control, labeling, dating, rotation, and storage procedures. Follow and enforce all health department and food safety requirements. Monitor portion control, waste, and proper product usage to help control food costs. Assist with inventory, receiving, prep levels, and identifying products that need to be ordered or prepared. Ensure kitchen equipment, workstations, walk-ins, storage areas, and the line remain clean and organized. Immediately communicate equipment problems, product shortages, staffing concerns, or food-quality issues to the Chef or management. Help maintain a positive kitchen culture built around accountability, respect, teamwork, and communication. Assist the Chef with specials, new menu items, recipe development, plating, and menu innovation when requested. Perform additional kitchen and leadership duties as assigned by the Chef or management. Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of line cook experience, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant or sports bar environment. Previous lead cook, shift lead, or kitchen leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, proper food handling, and kitchen safety. Ability to confidently run multiple stations and assist other stations when needed. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to remain organized and composed during high-volume service. Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to take ownership of the kitchen when leadership is not present. Ability to coach and correct team members professionally while maintaining a positive working environment. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and high-volume event days as required. You should understand the standards set by the Chef and help ensure those standards are followed whether the Chef is standing on the line or not.

Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
