Job Description

The Cook prepares meals and achieves dining service objectives by implementing menus, controlling food preparation and sanitation in all areas of dining service, and executing shift standards Essential Functions o Coordinates and prepares for meal service o Follows and prepares food items to recipe specification o Ensures food is ready for service and finished closest to serving time o Ensures quality of food and correct food temperature o Displays all food attractively, with garnishes and correct portions o Assists with Catering and special orders through completion of work listed in catering and production sheets ahead of event time o Maintains low food costs through preparing appropriate production quantities, adequate meal portioning and utilizing meal leftovers o Adheres to all department sanitation and safety control policies, including but not limited to, hand washing throughout shift, wearing gloves when handling food, properly labeling and dating all foods o Maintains department sanitation through completion of all sanitation duties that are scheduled daily, weekly and after meal service, as well as those assigned by o Keeps all equipment operational by following the manufacturer's instructions and establishes procedures, while notifying the Chef of any operational problems or errors o Protects the assets of the kitchen and culinary department by adhering to security policies and procedures, including turning off all equipment and lights, setting the alarm, and securing doors at the end of the day. o Contributes to the overall success of the Culinary department through assisting with training staff in safe operation of kitchen equipment, maintaining a cheerful and helpful attitude, and performing other duties and assignments as needed
