This position plays an important role in preparing fresh, appealing, and nutritious meals for our residents while maintaining high standards for food quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety. The ideal candidate is organized, works well as part of a team, and takes pride in preparing meals that residents look forward to. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and portion standards Prepare meats, vegetables, soups, sauces, side dishes, and other menu items Follow resident dietary requirements, modified diets, and special meal instructions as directed Ensure meals are prepared and served at the proper temperature and on schedule Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control Complete food preparation, including chopping, slicing, measuring, and portioning ingredients Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and infection-control procedures Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift Properly label, date, rotate, and store food Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies as needed Clean cooking equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen areas Follow all community policies and applicable food safety regulations Communicate effectively with the Culinary Director and other kitchen team members Provide courteous and respectful service to residents, families, coworkers, and guests Assist with special events and holiday meals as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Previous line cook, prep cook, restaurant, healthcare, or senior living food service experience preferred Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with a team Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required of the position Must meet all applicable state and local requirements for food service employees Food Handler Card or applicable food safety certification required based on local requirements What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that working in senior living is about more than preparing food. Mealtimes are an important part of our residents' daily experience. We want a cook who takes pride in serving meals that are prepared with consistency, care, and attention to detail.
